各地庭园习见栽培。形态特征灌木，高达3～4m。小枝粗壮，无毛，皮孔明显。叶对生，大而有光泽，倒卵形至椭圆形，长7～1 5(20)cm，缘有粗锯齿，两面无毛或仅背脉有毛。顶生伞房花序近球形，径可达20cm；几乎全部为不育花，扩大之萼片4，卵圆形，全缘，粉红色、蓝色或白色，极美丽。花期6～7月。生长习性
喜荫，喜温暖气候，耐寒性不强，华北地区只能盆栽，于温室越冬。喜湿润、富含腐殖质而排水良好之酸性土壤。土壤酸碱度对花色影响很大。性颇健壮，少病虫害。
园林用途
多作盆栽观赏。

繁殖培育可用扦插、压条、分株等法繁殖。
